The Bible
The word "Bible" is derived from the Greek biblos which means a book. Since the Bible is a revelation to man from God, it is pre-eminently the Book.
(Psa 19:7 KJV)  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
(Psa 19:8 KJV)  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
(Psa 19:9 KJV)  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
(Psa 19:10 KJV)  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
(Psa 19:11 KJV)  Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
(Psa 19:12 KJV)  Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
(Psa 19:13 KJV)  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
(Psa 19:14 KJV)  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
(Psa 20:1 KJV)  The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; 2  Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; 3  Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. 4  Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. 5  We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. 6  Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 8  They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9  Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.
The New Testament
The New Testament was written in the first century before 100 A.D. by the Apostles of Jesus and his brothers. Though some say that the New Testament was written 100-300 years after Christ died, the truth is that it was written before the close of the first century by those who either knew Christ personally, had encountered him, or were under the direction of those who were His disciples.Matthew, Mark, and Luke were all written before 70 A.D. Basically, the book of Acts was written by Luke after 80A.D  The gospel of John is supposed to have been written by John the apostle.  It is written from the perspective of an eyewitness of the events of Christ's life. It is the last of the gospels and appears to have been written in the 80's to 90's.Paul's Writings includes Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 7 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon.Since Acts was written before 70 A.D. and Paul wrote the Pauline Epistles and we know that Paul died in 64 A.D., the Pauline Epistles were all written before that date.  It is not known for sure who wrote the book of Hebrews. The latest possible date for the writing of Hebrews is A.D. 95 but could have been written as early as A.D. 67.This epistles claims to have been written by James, and the most commonly and accepted James who was the brother of Jesus?  James was martyred by the order of the high priest  Ananus after the death of the "procurator Festus in A.D. 61 (Josephus, Ant. 20. 9)."  Therefore, the epistle of James was written before A.D. 61. Both epistles clearly state that they were authored by Peter, an eyewitness of Jesus' life and post resurrection appearances. Peter died at Rome during Nero's persecution of Christians around 64 AD so the epistles were obviously written before that time.1, 2, 3 John The writer of 1 John does not identify himself in the letter,Furthermore, the style of the three epistles is very similar to that of the gospel of John.  It appears that the epistles were written after the Gospel of John since the epistles seem to assume a knowledge of the gospel facts.  Date of writing varies from A.D. 60 to the early 90's. Jude    Jude identifies himself as the brother of James, the brother of Jesus .The date of writing seems to be anywhere from A.D. 68 to the early 90's.  Revelation was probably written at the end of John the Apostle's life.  Some hold to the 90's and it is the last book written in the New Testament. Their early dates of wrtting comfrim their contents,  facts too.
What is the Canon of scripture?

The word "canon" means "standard" or "rule." It is the list of authoritative and inspired Scriptures. Different religions have different canons.
In Judaism the canon consists of the books of the old Testament only,  the 39 books of the Hebrew scriptures
In Protestant Christianity, the canon is the body of scripture comprised in the Bible consisting of the 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.

The Bible tells us "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16).  God calls us to "always be ready to provide a reason for the hope we have, but to do this with gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15).

But in Roman Catholicism, additional books were added in 1546. These books are known as the apocryphal books: Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, The Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus (Sirach), and Baruch. I need to add here that Roman Catholicism maintains that the apocrypha was always inspired along with the Eastern Orthodox, Coptic and Armenian churches. The Protestant movement has not accepted the apocrypha.
   But in
Mormonism, four additional books have been added to the Canon: The book of Mormon, the Book of Abraham, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.
     But in
Christian Science an additional book has been added to the Canon. This additional book is called "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" written by Mary Baker Eddy.

The best way to uderstand the Bible is to continualy prayerfuly read it yourself..

Always start your day with the Lord, that includes having your morning  and evening Bible devotions and prayers.
(Psa 5:1 KJV)  Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. 2  Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. 3  My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. 4  For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. 5  The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 6  Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. 7  But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. 8  Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. 9  For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. 10  Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. 11  But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12  For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
(Gen 19:27 KJV)  And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:
(Exo 9:13 KJV)  And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
(Psa 30:5 KJV)  For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
(Psa 49:14 KJV)  Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
(Psa 59:16 KJV)  But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
(Psa 88:13 KJV)  But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.
(Psa 90:5 KJV)  Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
(Psa 92:2 KJV)  To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
(Psa 143:8 KJV)  Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
(Eccl 11:6 KJV)  In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
(Isa 5:11 KJV)  Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
(Jer 5:8 KJV)  They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.
(Jer 21:12 KJV)  O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
(Ezek 12:8 KJV)  And in the morning came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
(Mat 20:1 KJV)  For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
(Mark 1:35 KJV)  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
(Mark 13:35 KJV)  Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

>>  What is interesting is the Bible is the sole guide of faith for about 20,000+ different Protestant denominations…I repeat…20,000+   different  denominations.  Sounds like your guide the Bible  has done a pretty poor job “guiding.”  these pastors, denominations, churches.. Why?
Well as to why?
(Mat 15:8 KJV)  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 8 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Please firstly do read my post  elsewhere  about what I think of all bashers still..
Firstly it is too  easy to bash any church but how many of them now did you really help?
The truth is realty Protestants have the Bible but also their  traditions like the Catholics do, and thus today many churches even have false man made cultural traditions that they hold over the Bible.
YOU TOO CAN SPECULATE A TO WHY SINFUL MAN DOES NOT FOLLOW THE BIBLE. EVEN IN THE CATHOLIC  AND THE PROTESTANT CHURCHES INCLUDED... but the answer is obvious.. for a start 95 percent of the people in most  churches, the Christians do on  the average  read their Bible 5 minutes per day compared to hours of watching TV..  they say they believe in the Bible with MERE cheap words.. like many here do as well.. lip service, intellectual faith that really is an unreal one. LESS THAT 15 PERCENT OF PERSONS IN ALL CHURCHES ARE REAL CHRISTIANS TOO.
I do like to speak from reality, as to what I have experienced..  I USE HONESTY AND NOT  DISRUPTED  PERVERTED LOGIC..
Now also I personally have faced  and interviewed 45 Christian pastors in one city  alone involved in pastoral counselling and non of them used the Bible in counselling, and were clearly all were failures in it. Some admitted that they even lied in counseling. How many pastors did you interview directly?
When there is a problem church, clearly the pastor too,  and I am sent to it, the first thing I do is I meet the pastor in his own church office.. firstly I do not talk to him, I first look at the type of crapppy books he has in his office that he copies his bad sermons from.. hey I have also seen in visible display the pension fund manuals in the pastoral office. I next ask the pastor next how much of the Bible he believes and really uses in his ministry.. besides the church services. Most do not. . I also embarrassing actually ask them how often they pray daily.. and most do not. 12 percent of  pastors I have deal with do next repent of this their wrongs, the rest do not. I have personally have helped to fired over a dozen pastors, founding church pastors included.
There was this bad  pastor and I wanted to test him, I approached the church secretary and told her that I had this real book that was really great could he pass sit on to the pastor anonymously, and don't tell him where it came from. The following Sunday I sat in his service and the same pastor quoted this book word for word.. but he also stated that his sermon came directly from God.. he lied.. he copied another man's sermon.. I closed his church rightfully next.
Someone said if you go to church Sunday morning it is cause you like the pastor, and if you come back Sunday night it is cause you like the propel there. and if you come back on Wednesday for the prayer meeting it is cause you love the lord Jesus Christ.. no wonder few people attend pray meetings ehh. How many times do you go to church? I go seven days a week because I try to  walk with God all week.
There was this beautiful big church in a city I was visiting  made of solid big stone, I loved it's  design, when I went to their service I saw about a handful of people there and I really wondered how come?  many great churches I have been too great churches that had at least 1400 people at their services 3 times a week.. as I sat in their church service I heard the "dumb" pastor make this announcement, that they were canceling the Wednesday night prayer meetings so people could spend more time with their families.. their it was! the reason the church did not grow.. How dumb can you be cutting of the electricity and next wondering why there is no power? The secret of the great churches great churches that had even 1400 people at their services 3 times a week was they had a special one hour prayer meeting before each of the  Church services to pray specifically for the coming Church service..  and effective and simple too. How many prayer meetings like that have you gone too?
I also met a bad, hypocritical pastor who started these prayer meetings before each service but wrongfully he himself did not stay for them. (2 Chr 7:14 KJV)  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I was attending another church where the pastor was complaining of the slow spiritual growth in his church. I told him I would like to offer to help him in this matter. I asked if we could meet jointly once a week to pray specially for his church and anyone else was invited to attend. Only one other person came . so for 6 weeks 3 of us prayed one hour a week for the church. After six weeks of praying a revival broke out on in his church, and hardened, cold , indifferent members got converted even at the  Sunday morning, evening services. The pastor was really dismayed but  I was not and I told him the reality, the truth he could have such church services every week if he maintained such prayer meetings.
Now I have had many many other experiences relating to pastors, churches, congregations too
Furthermore a Christian Church opened a halfway house for people with problems, persons with  drug, depression, addiction,, mental, alcoholic problems as well.. their program was mainly to try to induce discipline, in reality they abused these apple they used them as free janitorial staff for the church, they did not pay them at all, but 27/29 of the church pastoral staff who had a annual budget salary of 1.2 million dollars were paid family relatives.. patristic hiring does not occur just in governments. After two yeas they were unsuccessful to help most of the problem persons so they announced they were going to shut the program within 6 months. I could not believe that a church could not help these  people with problem when Jesus and the apostle could. There were 7 problemed persons left in the program > I asked to help them and I was refused.. I offered to live in the halfway house for the balance 6 months and to pay the rent at my costs so they agreed... they could be bought with money ehh.. must tell you something about them too ehh? The stipulated I was not allowed to preach to persons an did agreed to this. Most problemed churches have such poor rules too. When I moved into the house I posted Bible verses on one wall of my room.. the remaining persons came to read them soon all of the persons follow my example and posted their favorite Bible verse on the wall.. before the program was shut 6/7 of these people got converted, healed, helped.. one did not.. I cried about that one too and Jesus next  replied to me.. I lost one myself.. Judas.. so I understand.
Now I am curious you are all talk but did you ever try such a real Bible experiment ?
(Luke 1:45 KJV)  And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
The apostolic tradition was preaching the words of Jesus..  praying, and also doing his acts..

(Acts 1:14 KJV)  These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
(Acts 3:1 KJV)  Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
(Acts 10:31 KJV)  And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
(Acts 12:5 KJV)  Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
(Acts 16:13 KJV)  And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
(Acts 6:4 KJV)  But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

you seem to be too ashamed to quote God's words

(Rom 1:16 KJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

(Rom 1:17 KJV) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

(Rom 10:17 KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

thus  faith does not come by tradition...

(Acts 10:38 KJV) How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

and how many people do you lay hands and have had them healed. I have done that to many.. they were healed of cancer as well.

(2 John 1:3 KJV) Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
