Are you looking for a Cable or DSL, phone Internet service? First Search for the Internet providers available in you area, and also do ask your neighbors what is their experience concerning their Broadband service. Ask about:
1.  The “Speed” that they actually get.
2.  Down time experience.
3.  Speed Capping, and port blocking.
4.  Tech support.  In a case that the service is not obtained from the owner of the system (I.e. the Internet provider is not your regular Cable or Telephone provider).  It is very important to ask how Tech support works. In many situations the Tech. on site response can be very slow since your provider might need the actual line owner to provide the service.
 Real, enforced Consumer protection is needed against the too often lying, crooked Internet service provider's personnel as well..
It is an undeniable fact that many past Bell Sympatico customers have next swung over to the Videotron Cable system in Montreal-LaSalle, Quebec, even next taking their phone subscriotns with them too,  and even the Sympatico technical nerds  need to be aware of the reasons why.
Internet service providers Sympatico included,  also wrongfully  lie about the actual Internet speeds they are promising to deliver, and lyingly, falsely also blame the customers for their own failure to supply the promised speed and this is really unacceptable. The provider should have firstly hired fully qualified, competent personnel.
 
 Next  Bell has tried to contact my neighbors and is offering them a new trio package deal for their phone, TV, Internet services  as well but none of my neighbors are next even thinking on going back to Bell, for you cannot still abuse me and think that these people will go back to Bell. People do watch how you do  treat others.
 
Yes, Cable modem has long been recognized for its superior speed compared to other forms of Internet service. DSL speed has historically been slower. In terms of peak performance, cable modem runs faster than DSL. Cable technology supports approximately 30 Mbps of bandwidth, whereas most forms of DSL cannot reach 10 Mbps. One type of DSL technology, VDSL, can match cable's performance, also supporting 30 Mbps. However, Internet service providers generally do not offer VDSL, but rather the cheaper and slower ADSL or SDSL services.
 
You still  do not get always what you want, expect, where promised in the Internet speed capacity from the home service providers even unless you tend to ask, and/or often demand loudly  for it. For the cheap service providers commonly employ bandwidth / speed caps for the residential customers. Find out if your interent service provider is doing this as well. Bandwidth caps place an artificial limit on the maximum speed a customer can achieve by monitoring their individual traffic flow and throttling network packets if necessary. And some cable modem services are symmetric (providing equal bandwidth for both uploading and downloading), but most providers still may need to allow a  higher download bandwidth to surpass their own false vision of  typical needs of residential customers even because too many of the service providers may falsely   believe that the vast majority of customers do not actually need any more bandwidth than that allowed under the cap. In fact the home comsuerd even as they are  are becomogn nore compuyer literate, they  are demanding, wanting  higher speeds. Service providers advertise DSL speed in terms of bandwidth ratings. Bandwidth numbers advertised for residential DSL service range from 128 Kbps to 8 Mbps (8000 Kbps). Do also check with the service provider  the bandwidth available for your uploads, such as upload activities of  publishing to Web sites, sending files over a P2P network, and sending emails.Because these DSL speed ratings vary so widely, its best to check first with your service provider to determine the bandwidth levels promised and next to measure it's reality as well by using also a speed test interent site to do this.
 
Even when your network may be functioning at full speed, spyware programs may be consuming the modem bandwidth, lowering the speed, this is no longer gnerally  true for most of the smart persons. Most intelligent persons these days have adequate security, firewall, virus  and spyware Monitoring   on computer(s) such as the ZoneAlarm secutirty suite.

  • DSL technology is "distance sensitive" because its performance decreases significantly as you get further away from this hub.line at your residence. Neighborhoods with better copper wiring can achieve somewhat faster DSL speeds.
  • After you have signed the high speed Internet service contract and you have DSL speed problems Bell Sympatico often next says  that they have done their best in supplying you their Internet services. Their best is not good enough. They had promised to deliver a stable, steady, reliable high speed Internet services and they must supply it. This is Contract Law.
     
    Some Sympatico employees have tried to indicate to me in their correspondances on these issues, , and they  can write anything they do want even to me but,  they do  still need to take a real look at the legal Contractual law definitions and obligations, for both of the parties have to keep their agreed upon promises or party that breaks the promise, next the guilty party has to pay a  penalty and that  is undeniable. So if Sympatico next  wants to make any changes to my interent service contract, they still have to have my prior approval, for  a one sided contract does not exist by law, rather it is is illegal.
     
    While my local phone company Bell Sympatico still calls it’s Internet service a "6 meg service" or 6 Mbps

    this is also wrongfully very misleading..

    Today's DSL services typically range in performance is generally still from 128 kbps to 1.544 Mbps, and for a few lucky persons with optical cable connection it can reach 3 to 5 Mbps but this is not a  steady gaurantee too..

    Misleading Interent Speeds promises: One's real, actual final internet speed is determined also next  by a number of important things including one's distance from the source, actual signal strength, and the amount of users online etc etc.
     
    Firstly  when you download anything with the Internet Explorer, or Netscape, or whatever it is you’re using, the download speed is generally rated in the Byte system, where
    KB = Kilobyte, The next step up from Kilobytes is Megabytes.
    Kb = Kilobit / MB = Megabyte,
    Mb = Megabit,  There are 8 Bits per Byte, 8 Kilobits per Kilobyte, and 8 Megabits per Megabyte.
     While my local phone company calls it’s service “6 meg service” because the commonly used in the phone industry  nickname for megabyte is meg. This still is too often misleading to the consumers. .  
     
     I am generally with my high speed DSL  starting to download any file only at a maxiumn 594.0 Kilobytes per second and  my average file download speed is only about 225 Kilobytes and it has been even much lower, it often slows down lower than even 60 Kilobytes..  yes all very different from the misleading 6 Megabytes service.
     
    Detailed - The typical mp3 is 3 Megabytes. There are 1024 Kilobytes in 1 megabyte, so if you could actually download at 1 Megabyte you could finish an mp3 in 3 seconds. But that is not the case...
    for (6 Megabits is roughly 6,000 bits). 6000/8 = 850 Kilobytes
    So firstly the  fastest I will only be able to download is at 850 Kilobytes,
    and very different from misleading 6 Megabytes service, don’t you think so too?

    Like most other persons I also regularly do use the most common search engines to do research, including Windows Live and Google. Recently about 95 percent of the search engine's site displayed I cannot next access their server with the most common Internet browser as well, Mozilla or  Internet explorer. Thus there is clearly a DSL connectivity problem and yet next wrongfully Bell Sympatico has responded on this to me that this is not their fault? Now really!!!! Unacceptable response on their part.
     
    There are many other  Internet service problems I have had the last two weeks such as the failure to have a decent Internet access with a bittorent program that their best is not good enough. They had promised to deliver a stable, steady, reliable high speed Internet services and they must supply it. This is Contract Law.
     
    All that explains why so many customers are unhappy with the actual speed of their rather poor DSL services.. Phone companies too are involved in false, misleading sales, marketing, servicing practices and both the federal and provincial consumers affairs ministers they all seriously now need to look into this for the good of all Canadian Internet services consumers.      Bell Sympatico Internet service. Your batting average is very low, you mostly strike out.. Bell Sympatico. Take the beam out of your own eye first. Stop blaming wrongfully again and again the customer for the Bell Sympatico's own service  inadequacies.
     
    1 I had this year only three  Bell service agent's phone me and Yvonne did not lie to me at all and I had appreciated it.. One bad male service agent even lied, mocked me, bullied me and that was unacceptable.
     
    2 I had this year 5 Bell Sympatico  technicians come to my home, only 2 /5 were acceptable and the others were liars, pretenders.
     
    3 Almost none of the people from the useless Sympatico Assistance responded to me by email  were helpful as well and they  also cannot compare to a competent qualified service technician at my home.
     
    4 But the still much too many  liars at Bell Sympatico, clearly also incompetent, they still do  need to keep their words to me and also to stop breaking the agreed upon terms, contracts, keep their word to me. I had complained in writing about this even to the federal government,  CRT years ago and they had reviewed this same complaint against Bell.
     
    a: I was last week in my discussion with a Bell agent by phone promised at least  6 month refund for the fact that Bell Sympatico had not delivered me their promised, reliable  high speed service during my past high speed contract with them.. You have failed to even keep this promise.
     
    Presently the Upload speed test.. 546 Kbps or 0.5 Mbps (67 kB/s)  is slow compared to Videotron, others. My last download speed  test of 4000 kbps is still short of the 5000 kbps that I had three weeks ago, and even the last 2 months. We all  will  next see  the result also as to  how well your  Internet services functions the next few weeks.
     
    b: But you have now yesterday downgraded me from the promised, agreed upon  and even supplied  6 Mbps in July , August 2007  to a 5 Mpbs system today and you did this  without telling me beforehand as well , but you also did this also without my approval as well, for the same law that binds our previous contract, the contract  law recognizes also the verbal contracts made, and  thus you  still need to take a real look at the legal Contractual law definitions and obligations, for both of the parties have to keep their promises or the guilty party has to pay the penalty is undeniable and if you want to make changes to the contract, you have to have my prior approval, for  a one sided contract does not exist by law. The issue is not the 5 dollars extra monthly that  you now do ask me  for a 7 Mbps service but a legal fact.     I had pointed out that as the computers users become more savvy they are demanding, expecting the promised Internet service speed and my persons thus do even want more higher speeds. They find out they are too  often screwed behind their backs by the Internet service suppliers too and the sad fact they cannot be trusted in one's dealing with them.
     
    So your lying acts were,  was, is, are as well as your past failure to live up too your contract obligations too. All  Unacceptable .  Deal with it, correct these inadequacies and keep your promises to me, your contract obligations.

Bell Sympatico too is really guilty of false misleading adverting practices by not boldly pointing this out to everyone but readily taking their money for a high speed service.

    As usual you have not bothered to even acknlodet my acknowledge of concerns to you, never mind act approitely on them. This is appropriately. You had wrongfully failed to address these and to properly act upon  these complaints when you were even the Prime Minister.
    To be fair to all of the citizens of Canada, all the police forces in Canada need an independent  civilian  oversight, police review Board, with real power to enforce it's findings, decisions, findings as well    is needed in any  police action, case resulting in serious injury or death , allegations of  misconduct, improper imprisonment or excessive force as well. The citizen based panel can  conduct its own further investigations and needs to have  power to subpoena or interview witnesses to any alleged police misconduct.  The Independent Police Review board is to employ independent attorneys—instead of cops from the Internal Affairs Division—to investigate further all the disputed, alleged claims against any bad police officers, the RCMP included. Internal police reviews are too often like the ""It's like the weasel investigating the chicken coop," for "too often the internal police reviews are mere acts of masturbation ".. Staffing the police review boards with relatives, political friends is also unacceptable.
    The right to engage in free speech without anyone, even the police, governments next retaliations, targeting us, or any discriminatory treatment, or using a false arrest is a fundamental bedrock of democracy and such charter  rights in my own experiences  have been too often violated by police under orders false explicit to do so. And instead of protecting our citizen rights, the bad police have looked for ways to get around them. The Cops have also often retaliated against me for launching my  complaints against them which was, is  a violation of my charter  rights, and their false attempt at obstruction of justice. I have also been perversely arrested in the Calgary chief of Police office here in Canada, under an inappropriate  city Bylaw because I had asked there to make a complaint to the police chief, and I said out loud "you cops are crooked". All of this was, is still unacceptable acts by the police or their superiors.
    Further more drug impaired driving, drunk driving, road age, driving incompetence, and car racing are still the main cause of the majority of all vehicle accidents on the road today. Most everyone can readily understand that the vehicle speed itself is not the critical aspect in the causes of car, vehicle accidents and any related deaths except the promotion oriented, money hungry police officers and their superiors. Speeding tickets, generally are a clearly perverse Money grab in  by the Police and not seriously affecting even  annual  vehicle accident rate and related death rates.

    I had been speaking to another Montreal- LaSalle resident today, a computer engineer that works with IBM in Montreal,  who said today that  Bell-Sympatico are known for their lies and poor Internet service performance, and that also they cannot  guarantee any decent speed because they have antiquate cables, equipment,  thus their average High speed downloads are still about 1000 kpbs only. This is why many people are switching over to cable which can offer at least 5 times higher speeds in comparison to Bell according to the same IBM engineer. It seems the customer has  supervise, monitor Bell Sympatico's performance continually and is a very bad way for Bell Sympatico to run their business n

It is no wonder now that a Bell Sympatico executive has seriously promised me there    will be significant changes coming shortly in this areas.

Their best is not good enough. They had promised to deliver a stable, steady, reliable high speed Internet services and they must supply it. This is Contract Law.
     
    Some Sympatico employees have tried to indicate to me in their correspondances on these issues, , and they  can write anything they do want even to me but,  they do  still need to take a real look at the legal Contractual law definitions and obligations, for both of the parties have to keep their agreed upon promises or party that breaks the promise, next the guilty party has to pay a  penalty and that  is undeniable. So if Sympatico next  wants to make any changes to my interent service contract, they still have to have my prior approval, for  a one sided contract does not exist by law, rather it is is illegal.
     
    While my local phone company Bell Sympatico still calls it’s Internet service a "6 meg service" or 6 Mbps

    and this is also wrongfully very misleading..

    Today's DSL services typically range in performance is generally still from 128 kbps to 1.544 Mbps, and for a few lucky persons with optical cable connection it can reach 3 to 5 Mbps but this is not a  steady gaurantee too..

    Misleading Interent Speeds promises: One's real, actual final internet speed is determined also next  by a number of important things including one's distance from the source, actual signal strength, and the amount of users online etc etc.
     
    Firstly  when you download anything with the Internet Explorer, or Netscape, or whatever it is you’re using, the download speed is generally rated in the Byte system, where
    KB = Kilobyte, The next step up from Kilobytes is Megabytes.
    Kb = Kilobit / MB = Megabyte,
    Mb = Megabit,  There are 8 Bits per Byte, 8 Kilobits per Kilobyte, and 8 Megabits per Megabyte.
     While my local phone company calls it’s service “6 meg service” because the commonly used in the phone industry  nickname for megabyte is meg. This still is too often misleading to the consumers. .  
     
     I am generally with my high speed DSL  starting to download any file only at a maxiumn 594.0 Kilobytes per second and  my average file download speed is only about 225 Kilobytes and it has been even much lower, it often slows down lower than even 60 Kilobytes..  yes all very different from the misleading 6 Megabytes service.
     
    Detailed - The typical mp3 is 3 Megabytes. There are 1024 Kilobytes in 1 megabyte, so if you could actually download at 1 Megabyte you could finish an mp3 in 3 seconds. But that is not the case...
    for (6 Megabits is roughly 6,000 bits). 6000/8 = 850 Kilobytes
    So firstly the  fastest I will only be able to download is at 850 Kilobytes,
    and very different from misleading 6 Megabytes service, don’t you think so too?

    Like most other persons I also regularly do use the most common search engines to do research, including Windows Live and Google. Recently about 95 percent of the search engine's site displayed I cannot next access their server with the most common Internet browser as well, Mozilla or  Internet explorer. Thus there is clearly a DSL connectivity problem and yet next wrongfully Bell Sympatico has responded on this to me that this is not their fault? Now really!!!! Unacceptable response on their part.
     
    There are many other  Internet service problems I have had the last two weeks such as the failure to have a decent Internet access with a bittorent program that their best is not good enough. They had promised to deliver a stable, steady, reliable high speed Internet services and they must supply it. This is Contract Law.
     
    All that explains why so many customers are unhappy with the actual speed of their rather poor DSL services.. Phone companies too are involved in false, misleading sales, marketing, servicing practices and both the federal and provincial consumers affairs ministers they all seriously now need to look into this for the good of all Canadian Internet services consumers.     To start of with Bell Sympatico advertises a reliable high speed Internet service but first do note that a DSL subscriber will have to be within a certain maximum distance from a telephone hub to get good DSL service, which too often for residential consumers is not the case, and explains why many DSL subscribers get a poor Internet service to start of with. Bell Sympatico too is really guilty of false misleading adverting practices by not boldly pointing this out to everyone but readily taking their money for a high speed service.
     
    Next there are other good reasons DSL cable subscribers do not get their stable, steady, reliable promised high speeds that are not the consumer's fault.
     
    Bell Sympatico do note that your batting average is very low, you mostly strike out.. Bell Sympatico. Take the beam out of your own eye first. Stop blaming wrongfully again and again the customer for the Bell Sympatico's own service  inadequacies.
     
    1 I had this year only three  Bell service agent's phone me and Yvonne did not lie to me at all and I had appreciated it.. One bad male service agent even lied, mocked me, bullied me and that was unacceptable.
     
    2 I had this year 5 Bell Sympatico  technicians come to my home, only 2 /5 were acceptable and the others were liars, pretenders.
     
    3 Almost none of the people from the useless Sympatico Assistance responded to me by email  were helpful as well and they  also cannot compare to a competent qualified service technician at my home.
     
    4 But the still much too many  liars at Bell Sympatico, clearly also incompetent, they still do  need to keep their words to me and also to stop breaking the agreed upon terms, contracts, keep their word to me. I had complained in writing about this even to the federal government,  CRT years ago and they had reviewed this same complaint against Bell.
     
    a: I was last week in my discussion with a Bell agent by phone promised at least  6 month refund for the fact that Bell Sympatico had not delivered me their promised, reliable  high speed service during my past high speed contract with them.. You have failed to even keep this promise.
     
    Presently the Upload speed test.. 546 Kbps or 0.5 Mbps (67 kB/s)  is slow compared to Videotron, others. My last download speed  test of 4000 kbps is still short of the 5000 kbps that I had three weeks ago, and even the last 2 months. We all  will  next see  the result also as to  how well your  Internet services functions the next few weeks.
     
    b: But you have now yesterday downgraded me from the promised, agreed upon  and even supplied  6 Mbps in July , August 2007  to a 5 Mpbs system today and you did this  without telling me beforehand as well , but you also did this also without my approval as well, for the same law that binds our previous contract, the contract  law recognizes also the verbal contracts made, and  thus you  still need to take a real look at the legal Contractual law definitions and obligations, for both of the parties have to keep their promises or the guilty party has to pay the penalty is undeniable and if you want to make changes to the contract, you have to have my prior approval, for  a one sided contract does not exist by law. The issue is not the 5 dollars extra monthly that  you now do ask me  for a 7 Mbps service but a legal fact.     I had pointed out that as the computers users become more savvy they are demanding, expecting the promised Internet service speed and my persons thus do even want more higher speeds. They find out they are too  often screwed behind their backs by the Internet service suppliers too and the sad fact they cannot be trusted in one's dealing with them.
     
    So your lying acts were,  was, is, are as well as your past failure to live up too your contract obligations too
    All  Unacceptable .  Deal with it, correct these inadequacies and keep your promises to me, your contract obligations.
     
    Now what about Bell Sympatico honouring their contract obligations to me and all the other problemed DSL subscribers in Canada and immediately too. Give me immediately the paid for , promised as well to me steady, reliable DSL at 6 Mbps AND 650 kbs download . Excuses not accepted.
     
     
     
     
    PS: The Internet suppliers (ISP) promised Internet speed is in fact generally a  false one, for it is generally only a  theoretical speed, and not even the true average speed, an optimum speed under the perfect conditions only, for it depends on many other factors, such as the conditions, type  of the connected cable, phone lines, branch services, other equipment.
